I should point out.....
This blog is for comment and discussion of "secular" things: politics, social conditions, the economy, etc., etc.
If you want to discuss religion, particularly Lutheranism, my blog for that is:

I wanna try to keep 'em separate if possible. "Left hand and right hand kingdoms" ya know.

Sarah Who?
Well, now. McCain takes a big gamble. But it just might work.
There are a lot of (feminist?) Hillary supporters who are disenchanted with the Damnocratic ticket. Whether Palin, with her lack of experience (are you listening, Nobama?) and her pro-life and NRA credentials will win those just because she's female is a crapshoot. At least a couple of things are in her favor big time. She's not a Washington DC insider and she's taken on "big oil" in Alaska. And, after hearing her speech this morning (on NPR no less!) I think she can take on Motormouth Biden with no trouble. Could be...
And consider this scenario:
1. If Nobama loses, he's dead meat. No way are they going to try him again in 2012. It'll be Hillary.
2. McCain will be in his mid-70s and may choose not to run for a second term.
3. Leaves Sarah as the heir-presumptive to battle it out with Hillary.
Could be. I hope I live long enough to see that cat fight!

No sigh of relief
Well, now that the circus in Denver is about over, the Messiah has been anointed, and the Motormouth about to be, it should be time for some rational thinking, eh what?
No, wait, the Republicrats come up in a week or so don't they? Drat!
(If McCain doesn't pick Lieberman to offset Biden, that ticket is dead outa the gate.)
I'm missing too many episodes of "Jeopardy" and darned near missed NCIS last night. One of my favorites, particularly Abby, the lab tech. She's got to be one of the most loveably "strange" creatures on TV.
One more week (of re-runs, to be sure, but some good 'uns) and then back to my cave for four days.

First things first
My first attempt at blogging, which I've resisted for a long time 'cause it seems to be sort of an ego thing for some bloggers, and I don't want to fall into that trap.
It's probably not going to be that much of a regular thing, but you never know. I'll need all the help I can get!
